At Emma's Fight, our mission is to empower families to stand united against injustice within the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS). We are dedicated to raising awareness about parental rights, exposing systemic failures, and advocating for policy reform to protect the integrity and unity of families across our state.
Our journey with the Department of Child Service (DCS) in Elkhart County began abruptly on August 6,2024. From that day forward, our lives were turned upside down as were thrust into a system we never imagined would touch our family. Less than two months later, on September 27, our children were labeled as Children in Need of Services (CHINS)- a designation that has since caused deep and lasting harm to our family unit.
What should have been a process rooted in objectivity and child- centered care quickly became marred by personal bias. We believe that one assessment workers subjective opinions influenced the direction of our case, rather than facts or evidence. This personal interference led to decisions that created unnecessary distance between us and our children.
As if that wasn't enough, we were met with a revolving door of caseworkers- each new face bringing confusion and delay. There was no consistency, no clear direction, and little accountability. Our case became just another file in a broken system, and in the process, we were denied the chance to be present for some of the most important moments in our children's lives.
This time- missed birthdays, holidays, milestones-is something we will never get back. And all of it, we believe, could have been avoided with fair, consistent, and unbiased process.
Family First
We believe that families are the foundation of a child's well -being. Every decision made by the child welfare system should prioritize keeping families together whenever safely possible
Truth and Transparency
We stand for honesty, clarity, and full transparency from all agencies involved in child welfare. No family should be left in the dark or misled by those in power.
Accountability
We believe that those entrusted with protecting children must be held accountable for their actions, Bias, neglect, and no through investigations have no place in a system meant to serve vulnerable families.
Justice for All
Every parent and child deserve fair treatment, regardless of background or circumstances. We advocate for equal protection under the law and an end to systemic inconsistencies.
Healing and Hope
Despite the pain, we believe in healing and the power of hope. Our fight is not only for justice in our own case, but for the many families who have faced similar injustices without voice
Your support- through donations, words, or action helps protect families, raise awareness, and demand reform from Indiana DCS.
